RBHS GYMNASTICS
2012 RULES AND EXPECTATIONS
*BE ON TIME * BE ON TASK * BE RESPECTFUL*
ATTENDANCE:
1.     Practice will be held every Monday through Friday from 2:45pm-5:00pm
2.     You are expected to attend all practices and competitions.
3.     You are expected to be dressed and ready and setting up equipment at 2:45pm
4.     If you will not be at practice, I need to know ahead of time.  If practice starts and I do not know where you are, it is unexcused.
5.     If you have an unexcused absence, you will get a warning, your second unexcused absence, you will be on probation and benched from the next meet. If you get a third, you may be dismissed from the team and forfeit your varsity letter
6.     Excused absences must be cleared with me 24 hours before the practice you will miss.  You must also provide a parent note.
7.     Arriving late and leaving early are unacceptable, for every 2 occurrences, you will receive a full unexcused absence. 
8.     If you have a job or work out at another gym, please meet with me to make arrangements.
9.     If you miss the practice before a meet, you will not be able to compete at that meet.
TRAVEL:
1.     You must travel to and from ALL MEETS on the bus.  It is district policy.  If you need to leave with a parent for an emergency or valid reason, you must submit a request in writing to the athletic director 48 hours before the meet.  NO EXCEPTIONS
2.     BE ON TIME for the bus on away meets.  If you are late, you will be left behind.
3.     Make sure you have EVERYTHING you need before getting on the bus.  (grips, leotard, warm-ups, school books… ect…)
4.     Stay at the meet site for the entirety of the meet.  If you leave, you may be dismissed from the team.
5.     You must attend your classes on the day of a meet.  You must be in 4 classes on a regular schedule and 2 classes on a lab day.  If you are not, you will not compete.
LETTERING: In order to receive a varsity letter you must…
1.     Compete in at least 2 meets at the Varsity level prior to League Finals and CIF
2.     Score an 8.0 or two 7.5s on one event
3.     Not have more then 1 unexcused absence
4.     Must finish the season in good standing.  This includes academics and citizenship both in the gym and the classroom
CONDUCT:
1.     Drugs and Alcohol are UNACCEPTABLE at ALL TIMES.  Including weekends and after school.  You signed a drug and alcohol free contract and it will be taken very seriously.  If you partake in any altering substances you WILL be dismissed from the team. Be smart and represent yourself and your team with honor and pride.
2.     Always be on your best behavior when representing RBHS.  This includes home meets, away meets, bus rides and outside activities.
3.     Be supportive of your teammates, work as a team and treat each other with kindness.
PRACTICE:
1.     Only water is allowed in the dance room.  All other food and drink, including chewing gum must be put away by the time practice starts.
2.     Due to safety precautions there will be a dress code enforced.  We will provide clothes to borrow if we feel your attire affects your safety.
Be on Time
1.     Practice STARTS at 2:45pm.  This means you are dressed, hair is pulled back and you are ready to go, setting up equipment AT 2:45pm
2.     If you know you are going to be late to practice, I need to know ahead of time.
3.     Practice ends at 5:00pm, which means we will begin putting equipment away at 5:00pm. 
4.     Do not leave practice early.  Many important announcements are made at the end of practice.  Do not leave until you are dismissed to ensure that you have all information you need.
Be on Task  If you are not on task at practice you will be asked to leave for that day.
1.     Gymnastics can be a dangerous sport, if you aren’t paying attention, you could get hurt.
2.     No cell phones during practice.  If they become a problem a stricter enforcement will be put in place. If you are on your cell phone, you are not on task.
3.     Do tasks, exercises ect… the first time you are asked
4.     Do your best
Be Respectful
1.     If you have an issue with a teammate or a coach come talk to me privately so we can work through the conflict
2.     No gossiping or negative about teammates, classmates or yourself
3.     Have an open mind, be willing listen to others with different opinions
4.     Respect all coaches, teammates, judges, peers ect….
5.     Pursue Victory with Honor and you will always be a winner!
TENATIVE DATES:
                  Practice: EVERYDAY Monday-Friday 2:45pm-5:00pm INCLUDING Spring Break April 2, 3 &4 from 9am-12pm.  All gymnasts are expected to be there
                  Meets: All required meets will be on weekdays after school.  You will be excused from class to get to the bus or come to the gym to set up.  All meets start at 4pm.

-       Wed. May 2 (@ Mt. Carmel)
-       League Finals (May 10) and CIF (May 18) are both at home and Varsity only, although JV will be required to be there to help because they are larger meets.
