Off Season Workout

As you have hear both Coach Jennica and myself say it is SO important to workout in the off season especially if you are looking to move up a level or take your scores to the next level.  I have done some research and been in touch with a couple of local gyms and found some great deals.  Following are the gyms, contact information, schedule and pricing.  Make sure you girls talk together and sign up with a friend, it will be helpful to have someone to help motivate you!

The upcoming week

Lots of great news and important information for this week....

  • Pictures have been rescheduled for Monday April 30 @3:30pm @ Old Poway Park.  Because we are taking them earlier ALL GYMNASTS will be required to ride in a parent driven car.  Parents, please let me know if you are available to help drive.  Meet at the school at 3:00pm and drive back from the park around 4:30pm.
  • Sunglasses sales are ongoing!  The girls are doing a great job selling, many students on campus are wearing them around.
  • Spirit sweats are going to be ordered this upcoming week, we were short of a minimum order so the ordering process has been taking a little longer than expected, thank you for your patience.
  • Monday 4/23 is Varsity only practice and we will be welcoming two new members to our Varsity squad!  Goldie and Michelle moved up from JV after the last meet and will now be competing on our Varsity team!  Way to go girls, keep up the great work!!
  • Our meet this week is at home against Mt. Carmel, it is our last regular season home meet so it is also Senior Night!  Thursday 4/26 at our gym @4:00pm, come out and support the tiny tumblers and help us cheer on our Seniors!!
Standouts for Last Week's Meet
Ashley Carmichael has been improving with every meet.  She has never competed before and has been steadily climbing from mid 6's to the 8's.  Her hard work at practice everyday shines at every meet as we watch her grow as a gymnast and competitor.

Becki Relph is a standout this week because she had the best meet out of our varsity team.  Becki was the only Varsity gymnast to place at the meet and put her strongest effort into each of her routines.

Maria Ota had the best meet of her gymnastics career last meet.  Maria was the most improved gymnast last year and is continuing to repeat her growing strength and achievements.

Thank you for visiting this week!  Check back for more exciting updates as we move into the end of our season!  Can you believe it is almost over?!

#broncoswagg

Hey Everyone!

Bronco sunglasses are now on sale!!  Get your swag from your favorite Tiny Tumbler.  $5 per pair, show your school spirit and share how cool your school is on twitter by mentioning #broncoswagg.

Our meet this week is on Thursday at Westview high school.  RB will be up against Del Norte, Mt. Carmel and Westview.  Come on out and show your support.

Exciting news!  Some of our gymnasts have achieved tremendous accomplishments this week and earned their team a pizza party on Friday!  Keep up the great work girls.

Standouts from 4/12/12

Caitlin France earned herself a standout this week!  Caitlin is a senior on our squad and is a strong leader and competitor.  Caitlin's specialty is beam and she has done nothing but improve and work at perfecting her routine.  Her hard work has shown throughout the season and we can't wait to see what she still has to come.

Monica Dixon is a standout this week for many reasons.  Monica had her best meet of her career this week and on top of that, she is our first gymnasts to qualify for CIF as an individual.  Monica's 9.075 on vault was her third and final 9 that earned her a spot at the CIF finals in May.  Monica has grown into a strong gymnast and puts her best effort into every practice.

Jamie Lucero has set a record for RBHS gymnastics.  Never has an individual improved so much in such little time.  Jamie improved her floor score by over 3 point in the time of two weeks!  She is a hard worker and knows exactly what questions to ask to improve her skills. This is Jamie's first year with the Tiny Tumblers and she has a promising future.

The Week Ahead

Tuesday and Wednesday are regular 2:45-5:15 practices.  We will be working Vault and Bars on Tuesday and Floor, Beam and Bars on Wednesday.  If you compete Vault it is extremely important to be at practice on Tuesday because that will be the only day we will be able to see your vaults for competition.

**Spirit Sweats money is due Tuesday!**

Thursday April 12 is a home meet @4pm.  We are against the Independents and Westview and OLP will also be against one another.  This is a duel meet meaning there are two different meets going on.

Friday is PICTURE DAY!!  We will meet at the gym at 2:45 (regular practice time) and have meet debrief.  The girls will then have a few minutes to get ready for pictures and we will be leaving campus at 3:30.  Team picture will be taken at 4:00pm in our meet day shirts and dark blue jeans.  Then individual pictures in leotard will be taken.  Our girls trying out for cheer will take their individual pictures first and then will ride together back to school. If your daughter is not trying out for cheer, you will need to pick her up from Old Poway Park around 4:30 or 5:00pm.

Envelopes are being sent home with your daughters this week.  Please send a check and the bottom half with them on Friday.  You can also order pictures online after viewing them, but they are more expensive to order that way.

If you have any questions, please e-mail me.  And cheer girls, keep me posted on how you are doing, I want to help you survive this week!

Spring Break

Spring Break Practices are Monday-Wednesday 9am-12pm.  We will also have spirit days.  Monday is Animal day, Tuesday is Boy day and Wednesday is Pajama day!  Also there will team socials after practice on Monday and Wednesday.  Don't forget to dress up.

Spirit Sweats are now available for order.  These are items we have ordered from Nike that have our gymnastics logos on them.  They are not a requirement to order but are often a fun way for family members and gymnasts to show their love and support for RBHS gymnastics.  Order forms will be sent home Wednesday April 4 and money and orders will be due Tuesday April 10.  All items are ladies sizes and cuts.  Sweatshirts-$40 Sweatpants-$30 T-shirts-$25

And lastly, team pictures are scheduled for Friday April 13 at 4pm at Old Poway Park.  We will meet for practice and meet recap on Friday at the usual time (2:45pm) and then we need parents drivers to take girls from the student parking lot at 3:30pm to Old Poway Park.  Then, parents are asked to pick their daughters up from Old Poway Park at 5:00pm.  This year we will be taking our team picture in our meet day shirts and jeans and then individual pictures will be in leotards.  Order forms are being sent home Monday April 9th and you need to bring money and order forms on Friday to pictures.

Please let me know if you can help drive for pictures and how many seats are in your car.  Our next meet is Thursday April 12 @4pm, see you there!

A Much Needed Update

After our meet against La Costa Canyon and Our Lady Peace, the team has finally felt all of their hard work paying off.  As I mentioned earlier, both teams have reached their goals which is great because now we get to set new goals and push that much more.  Jennica's mom, Bobbi, used to be a judge and came into practice this week to help our girls clean up their routines.  We couldn't thank her enough if we tried.  The girls have taken her advice and now are on a whole new level in their skills.

STANDOUTS for 3/30 vs. La Costa Canyon and Our Lady Peace

Dana was an absolute standout this week as well as in the meet. Dana has been working on one of the hardest things to come over in gymnastics which is coming back from an injury that was sustained on a particular trick.  For Dana, this is her ariel.  This week she got it back and also blew us away with her powerful vault.  Dana is a hard worker and her passion for this team shines every time she is at practice.

Ashlyn hit everything she could this meet.  Ashlyn has been consistently improving in each meet, but this meet she improved leaps and bounds!  She got 8's on every event and improved her All Around score by 3 points.  She had the highest All Around score out of our JV team and earned a place on the award stand against a strong team.

Maria is another gymnast who has been overcoming fears throughout the week.  After having a frustrating practice, Maria took it upon herself to go to an open gym determined to get her round-off back handspring back.  The next day Maria came to practice with a handspring that was stronger than we had ever seen!  Maria won most improved gymnast last year and we see her improving tremendously this season too!

March 13 Meet Recap

We are extremely proud of both the JV and V teams for the past two weeks!  They have both been steadily improving and at our last meet both teams matched our team goals for scores.  JV got a 136.95 and V got a 160.75.  It is great to see such grand and consistent improvements early in the season!  Let's keep it up!!

STANDOUTS for 3/15 vs. Mt. Carmel, Our Lady Peace and Torrey Pines
Hailey has grown so much over the past few seasons she has been on the RB team.  Last year Coach Jennica and myself had to force Hailey just to get up on a beam and at this meet she performed a Varsity beam routine without falling.  Hailey's hard work in the off season and during practice has shown in her improvements.

Sammee has been a hard worker all season.  She pushes herself and always has a smile on her face!  Sammee asks questions to learn about the sport and has used that knowledge to better her approach.  As a first year gymnast on this team Sammee has earned her place as a motivator and hard worker.

Becki is one of our strongest gymnasts.  As a fourth year senior, Becki has much experience in the world of High school  gymnastics but still always finds ways to improve.  Scoring 9's on three events, and scoring 35 all around has Becki well on her way to qualifying for CIF as an individual.

Work it out

Hi Everyone!

So far we are doing great this season.  Coach Jennica and I could not be more proud of the progress we have seen with this young team.  Everyone has improved and grown so much and are taking a genuine interest in learning about the sport.  One thing that will be changing starting this week is that practice will be extended to 5:15pm.  Last year practice went until 5:30pm and we were able to get a lot done including conditioning exercises with are a crucial part of growing and strengthening for our team.  There were a lot of conflicts with the longer practices so we cut them short this year, but we were too ambitious and need more time so we are extending practice until 5:15pm.  Coach Jennica and I believe that this 15 minutes will be essential to helping our team get stronger and continue improving throughout the season.

Sunglasses are in process of being ordered.  The process of getting the purchase order approved and ordering may take a little bit but they will be ordered as soon and the system will move us along.  That means let your friends know they are on their way and to start gathering their pennies!

This week we have another home meet on Friday against La Costa Canyon, Our Lady Peace and a team I can't recall at the moment in a quad on Friday in our home gym.  Come on out and support the tiny tumblers and help us put on another smooth running and successful meet.

See you all Friday!

We survived!

CONGRATULATIONS to JV and Varsity teams!  Both teams beat Our Lady Peace, Fallbrook and the Independents!  Way to go Ladies. JV=1-0 V=1-0.

Our first meet is over!  Everyone did a great job.  Gymnasts were great competitors and did well with the new environment and for all the parents that helped out, I can't thank you enough for helping make everything run smoothly.  Every week the coaches will be selecting three stand-out gymnasts that really blew us away that week both in practice and in the meet.

This week our stand-outs are....

Michelle Bischoff.  Michelle was a stand out this week because she has been working extra hard in practice and did not let her nerves get the better of her in the meet.  Michelle overcame a shaky warm-up at the meet to perform a beautiful beam routine and stole the show during the awards ceremony earning ribbons on all events including 1st on All Around!

Goldie Malamud.  Goldie was a stand-out this week because in her first competition she rocked the house!  Goldie kept up with returning gymnasts and performed at a strong level earning her many ribbons in the awards ceremony.  All of Goldie's hard work in practice really paid off when she earned a score of 9.15 on floor earning her a 1st place ribbon along side teammate, Michelle.

Sammy Belgum.  Sammy is new to our team this year but you would not have known it at the meet.  Sammy kept her teammates pumped cheering them on and praising them for their accomplishments.  Sammy's sweet smile and kind words were not the only thing that earned her a stand-out this week; her focus and determination during practice and the meet paid off in a gorgeous beam routine.

Congratulations to this week's stand-outs!

This week:
  1. Every other Monday practices start this week.  This Monday will be a Varsity only practice.  JV gymnasts are welcome to come for an open gym atmosphere, but coaches will be focused on Varsity.
  2. Our meet this week is against the Torry Pines Falcons.  Come cheer us on at Mt. Carmel high on Thursday 3/22 @4:00pm.  See you there!
  3. We do not yet have a host for our team dinner this week.  It is an optional team dinner which means girls are not required to attend, but if we do not have a host we will not hold a team dinner at all.  Please e-mail me if you are interested in cooking some pasta and having the girls over for about an hour or two Wednesday night after practice.

Our First Meet Week

This week is going to be fun because we are going to start to get used what the rest of the season is going to feel like.  We have our first meet vs. Our Lady Peace this WEDNESDAY at RBHS.  Thank you parents for volunteering to help.  I will be adding a new feature to the website, a "Meets" tab, where I will post the volunteer list for that week's meet to remind everyone helping.

On Tuesday after practice there is a team dinner.  I would love for everyone to be able to make it since it is our first one, please let me know if this is an issue for any one.  I will give directions out at practice on Tuesday so your gymnast will be able to give you directions to come pick her up.

The meet will start at 4:00pm and are held in the gym.  I think this will be a fun week for everyone!

The Season has Begun

Finally we get to get into our normal routine and start having regular structured practice everyday after school!  This week we are going to be conditioning and working on endurance and beginning to learn the routines for competition.  There is also a lot of business to take care of...

Important Notes this week:
  • Rules and Expectations are due Tuesday, signed by the gymnast and her parent.  (I will be passing them out at Monday's practice)
  • Parent Information night is this Thursday March 1st at 6:30pm in the PAC.  First all of the athletic teams will meet as a whole and then break off into classrooms around 7pm.  Parents if you can make it I strongly recommend coming.  This is the only real chance we get to sit down and answer all of your questions and get volunteers for the season.  There is lots of important information handed out and I would love to meet you all!
  • Uniform money is now past due.  Unless I spoke with you, this is going to delay the team receiving their uniforms in a timely manner.  Please get that to me as soon as possible.  (Returners $95 and New $205)
Please remember if you are not going to be at practice or need to come late or leave early for any reason I need to know BEFORE it happens.  I hate worrying about where you all are, so please let me know if something is planned as soon as you know or text or e-mail me if it comes up as a surprise.  Thank you!

Try Outs this Week!

This is the week we have all been waiting for!  The time has finally come to try-out for the 2012 season.

If you are trying out here are some last minute reminders....

1)  Pick up your ticket to play from the athletics office at break or lunch this week.  You must bring it with you to try-outs, otherwise you will be sent home.

*If you want to give it to me before try-outs I will be in the athletics office during lunch on Tuesday and in the PE office until 3pm on Friday.

2)  If you haven't already done so, please send you RSVP to tumblingbroncos@gmail.com.  If you have sent one, I have not responded so do not let that worry you.  RSVPs help me organize try-outs so they can run smoothly and we waste minimal time.

3)  Look over the list of skills, maybe go to an open gym and brush up on a few of them before Saturday.

4)  Be in the gymnastics room (also known as the dance room or wrestling room) ready to go at 9am on Saturday.  ALL GYMNASTS interested in trying out will need to be present at this time.  Please wear clothes you can move and stretch in and nothing baggy.

See you on Saturday, best of luck to all trying out!
